We have a variety of different experiences on offer for all travellers – whether it’s a scenic cruise up to the Kapiti Coast hub at Paekakariki, or a fast jaunt through the suburbs of the Hutt Valley, we can’t wait to welcome you onboard to experience local surroundings from a unique perspective! Heading north, the trains will be hauled by steam locomotive Ja 1271, and heading south, the trains will be hauled by one of our heritage Da class diesel-electric locomotives! See all of these trips below:

The Brekkie Express – Trains depart both Wellington & Upper Hutt first thing in the morning for return trips. Departs Wellington 7am | Departs Upper Hutt 8:05am

Valley Steam Supreme – Two separate trains departing Wellington to Upper Hutt & return. Departs Wellington 9:15am | Departs Wellington 11:30am

Capital Steam Limited – HVL – Train departs Upper Hutt, cruising into Wellington and return | Departs Upper Hutt 10:15am

Suburban Steam – Valley & Coast Package – Train departs Wellington, travels to Upper Hutt and return, and then travels to Paekakariki and return | Departs Wellington 11:30am

Escarpment Steam Express – Train departs Wellington, racing up to Paekakariki & return | Departs Wellington 1:50pm

Capital Steam Limited – KPL – Train departs Paekakariki, cruising into Wellington and return| Departs Paekakariki 4:00pm

Twilight Steam Express – Train departs Wellington, heading to Paekakariki & return | Departs Wellington 5:15pm
